Gettysburg 2011 Reenactor Information

This year’s 2011 Gettysburg 148TH Anniversary Reenactment will be held on the actual days of the Battle of Gettysburg – July 1, 2, & 3 (Friday/Saturday/Sunday).   Federal Commander will be General Allen Baldwin and CSA Commander will be General Dave Cornett. The Gettysburg 148TH Reenactment will be one of the 2011 Kick-Off events for the Gettysburg Sesquicentennial and 150TH commemoration. Participating troops and units will be data based and given priority registration for the Gettysburg 150TH Reenactment. Also, this year at registration each participating reenactor will receive a unique  March To The 150TH commemorative medallion with 148TH in the center and the dates 1861-1865 and 2011-2015.

The event will be moving back to the beautiful and pristine Gettysburg Movie Site on Pumping Station Road. It is next to Gettysburg National Military Park, overlooking the Roundtops and the historic Sachs Mill Covered Bridge. It is a wonderful site for this year’s reenactment.

There will be one major battle each day and also exclusive cavalry battles on Saturday and Sunday morning. The battle schedule will be announced by the commanders in September. The commanders are striving to provide some exciting and fresh scenarios.

Because of its past popularity and numerous recent requests, on Saturday evening after the battle, all registered reenactors will be treated to a complimentary Pig Roast Barbeque dinner served by the GAC staff. The traditional Camp Dance will be at 8PM on Saturday evening.

Although the event concludes on Sunday, because Monday is July 4, GAC is inviting reenactors to stay on site and camp Sunday evening to enjoy Gettysburg on July 4. Camps will need to be vacated by 5PM on Monday.

More information will be posted for reenactors as it becomes available.
